W. H. Lewis presents in a memoir, a convincing portrait of his brother with his strongly marked and unusually consistent personality. The letters themselves cover a variety of subjects from biography, spiritual advice, spontaneous literary criticism, great generosity of advice and more. Much of the content is sure to surprise all those who believed Lewis was a bachelor don with an Edwardian mindset but knew nothing of his life. Dust jacket is in good condition with nicks to edges and some light rubbing. Purple boards with blue and gilt titles to spine are in very good condition with light bumps to corners. Previous owner's book plate to inside of front board.
